CabCommand + Motive: your ELD data, finally working for you

Your Motive ELD already knows where every truck is and how many hours every driver has. Connect it to CabCommand and that data starts answering the questions you actually ask — where's my driver, will he make the appointment, is anyone about to cross a permit state?

What the integration does

The connection is read-only and takes minutes: paste your Motive API key on the Connectors page and CabCommand starts pulling vehicles, drivers, live GPS positions, and hours-of-service. The fleet map lights up with real positions; each driver card shows duty status and remaining drive time; and ETAs on in-transit loads compute from actual GPS instead of guesses.

Driver matching is careful by design — trucks match on VIN and unit number, drivers by name — and there's a diagnostic view showing exactly what Motive returned, so 'connected' never means 'silently wrong.'

The permit guard: the alert that pays for itself

Six states run road programs that follow the truck across their line — Oregon's weight-mile tax, New York's HUT, Kentucky's KYU, New Mexico's weight-distance permit, Connecticut's Highway Use Fee, California's Clean Truck Check. With Motive connected, CabCommand checks every live position against them: a truck inside a permit state whose program isn't on your compliance roadmap triggers an owner alert the same day. One avoided citation covers years of subscription.

Ask questions in plain language

Because live positions flow in, CabCommand's assistant can answer dispatcher questions directly: how far is Gabriel from his drop-off, who has hours left tonight, which truck is nearest the next pickup. Live data plus your loads in one brain, in English or Spanish.

ETAs your brokers can trust

In-transit loads get their ETA computed from the truck's actual GPS position against the delivery address — refreshed as the truck moves, not typed in at booking and never touched again. When a broker calls asking where the load is, the answer is on your dashboard before you finish saying hello.

The daily sync also keeps driver cards current — duty status, remaining drive time, last known location — so hours-of-service planning happens from data instead of a phone call. If a driver's GPS goes quiet, CabCommand falls back to the last known ELD location rather than pretending the truck vanished.

Frequently asked questions

Is the Motive connection read-only?

Yes — CabCommand reads vehicles, drivers, GPS, and HOS. It never writes to your Motive account.

What do I need to connect it?

A Motive account with API access. Paste the API key on CabCommand's Connectors page; matching runs on VIN/unit number for trucks and names for drivers, with a diagnostic view to verify.

Do webhooks make it live?

Yes — Motive webhooks (verified per-fleet with a signing secret) refresh positions as events happen, on top of regular syncs.

What if my ELD is Samsara?

Samsara support is planned but not live yet — the honest answer. Motive is the supported ELD today.
